Selina Boavista Hostel

The project stems from the transformation of a building that integrated two independent single-family homes, combined into a single built structure, to house a surf-oriented hostel. The intervention seeks to adapt the complexity of the pre-existing building to a form of collective living without erasing the memory of the two houses that gave it origin.

Organized through successive half-levels, the building is rearticulated via a new circulation system. The former garage becomes the entrance, reception, and arrival space at street level, initiating a vertical sequence that connects rooms, dormitories, common areas, and different outdoor platforms.

The terraces, previously fragmented and underutilized, now become an integral part of the hostel's daily life. The widening of openings brings the interior spaces closer to the garden and pool, while the transformation of the old attic introduces a new habitable floor, set back from the street and connected to terraces with visual ties to the ocean.

Formally, the white and stepped language of the construction is maintained, reinforcing the succession of walls, balconies, and planes that follow the slope. The intervention unfolds through operations of connection, opening, and extension, converting two houses into a collective structure oriented toward permanence, gathering, and connection with the coastal landscape.
