Bombarda Building

The project stems from the singular condition of a deep, irregular plot marked by a steep slope between two urban frontages. The response is constructed primarily in section, through two autonomous volumes implemented at different levels and articulated by a stepped courtyard.

On Rua da Bombarda, the new building rebuilds the built frontage, establishing continuity with the heights, alignments, and scale of the surroundings. The roof combines inclined and horizontal planes, while the facade is organized by a regular grid of openings whose vertical expression and refined design reinterpret, without mimicry, the recurring elements of the street.

On the eastern front, the second building assumes a lower volumetry and a domestic scale, suited to the configuration of the private street. Between them, the void ceases to be a residual space and begins to organize the complex: a succession of patios, gardens, terraces, and water features follows the topography and establishes varying degrees of relationship between interior and exterior.

The proposal thus seeks to integrate the new construction into the block's morphology, not through the formal reproduction of the surroundings, but through the continuity of its proportions, rhythms, and spatial relationships.
